Christie Sides brought a wealth of 22 years of coaching expertise to the Indiana Fever when she accepted the team’s helm in 2023. renowned for her intense gaming style.

Sides is more than simply another coach in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA); she is a strategist who places a strong emphasis on defense principles since she thinks they are the secret to lifting titles.  “From day one, that’s what we’ve preached. That’s how you win championships, to me. The offense will come. And that takes time, chemistry with your players. But defense is just heart. And that’s something that I have a lot of,” She says with assurance.

As a coach, Sides believes in building close relationships with her players in addition to moves and tactics. She showed her commitment to her athletes by developing a close relationship with Kelsey Mitchell, whom she assisted in coaching before taking a brief break from the Fever. She made personal contact with Mitchell upon her return, which emphasizes her dedication to the group dynamic and team spirit.

With the acquisition of Caitlin Clark, who is regarded as the finest player in the NCAA, 2023 was a historic year for the Fever. You can feel Coach Sides becoming excited about mentoring a gifted player like Clark. In order to assist Clark develop her abilities and fit in with the club, she applies her defensive-minded coaching style. She was clearly excited at a recent event held after the WNBA Draft. With Clark’s arrival, the community’s excitement for the next season of The Fever is at an all-time high. Governor Eric Holcomb of Indiana gave Clark a personal welcome to Indianapolis, expressing the high standards of the state. With the regular season beginning in mid-May, Coach Sides is expected to guide the Fever through their preseason games at home in Indianapolis and against the Dallas Wings.

The excitement has also affected ticket sales; courtside seats for the home opener are going for as much as $2,300 on resale sites, with more reasonably priced tickets costing $40 in the upper sections.
